TreesGreenville Turkey Day 8k

8k Run - 2 Mile Walk - 1/4 Mile Tot Trot

Thanksgiving Morning - 11/22/2012

USATF Certified 8k Course and Chip Timing (8k only)

Event Times & Course Access: 

Entrance into CU-ICAR closes at 8:30am sharp (read more on directions and parking below).

1/4 mile Toddler Trot, 8:30am start

8k run, 9:00am start

8k baby jogger division, 9:10am start

2 mile walk, 9:10am start

Millenium Blvd will reopen (so you can go get that turkey in the oven) after all runners, walkers, and joggers are off Millenium Blvd.  This has been around 9:30am the past 3 years.

Location

The start/finish line are in front of Hubbell Lighting (located in the CU-ICAR business park) at 701 Millennium Blvd, Greenville, SC 29607.

Course Information

Course monitors will be stationed along the route and course will be closed to traffic.  Each mile will be marked.  Water & Gatorade will be located at mile 1.5 and mile 3.5. Please help us keep the course clean - put trash (i.e. gel & bar wrappers) in designated trash receptacles.  Post-race refreshments will be available to all participants.  Click here to see the course map on the USATF website.  Click here for the course on maymyrun.

8k Cash Purse

Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female in 8K run will receive cash awards - 1st $100; 2nd $75; and 3rd $50.  

8k Age Group Awards

Top 3 for both Males and Females 8k run will receive an award: 11-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70+.  The awards ceremony will be held as soon as possible so people can get home and get those turkey’s in the oven.

TreesGreenville 1/4 mile Tot Trot

To all those tots out there who would like to participate, TreesGreenville is offering a free ¼  mile Tot Trot at 8:30AM.  All participants will receive a bib number and a finisher's medal. Please register so we know we have enough bibs and medals.  OPTION:  If you would like a youth race t-shirt for the event, there is a $10 registration fee.

TreesGreenville 2 mile Turkey Day Walk

Designed for the kids not quite ready to run an 8k… the runners who prefer a 5k…and the walkers who’d like to start their day with us. 

This event will not be chip timed (which enables us to lower your registration fee a few dollars).  No awards will be given.  Registration includes a long sleeve race shirt.  Youth sizes are available.

DIRECTIONS

On race day, you will only be able to enter into the CU-ICAR campus at the intersection of Laurens Rd & Millennium Blvd (directly off of I-85).  All other roads will be closed.  This is the only way in.

From Charlotte/Spartanburg: I-85 South to Greenville.  Take exit 48B.  Merge onto Laurens Rd/US-276 toward Mauldin.  Turn left at Millennium Blvd and comply with parking instructions.

From Atlanta: I-85 North to Greenville. Take exit 48A.  Merge onto Laurens Rd/US-276 toward Mauldin.  Turn left at Millennium Blvd and comply with parking instructions.

PLEASE NOTE:  Entrance into the CU-ICAR campus will close promptly at 8:30am sharp (by the police).  No vehicles will be allowed into the closed course area after 8:30am.  Cars parked on the race course or on Laurens Rd will be towed at the owners expense.  Therefore, plan to arrive before 8:30am.

PARKING

Hubbell Lighting Parking Lot:  After turning off of Laurens Rd onto Millenium Blvd...Drive 1-mile down Millennium Blvd and turn left into Hubbell Lighting for parking (PLEASE PROCEED WITH SAFETY - VOLUNTEERS WILL BE ON COURSE).  Hubbell Lighting Security Personnel will direct you to designated parking areas.  

CU-ICAR Parking Garage: After turning off of Laurens Rd onto Millenium Blvd... make a left onto Research Dr, the parking garage will be up on your left.  Volunteers will be their directing you.

*Please Note:  The first 2100 registrants will receive a long sleeve race shirt.  Race t-shirts are guaranteed.

As of right now:  shirts and shirt sizes are still gauranteed for Packet Pick-Up Registration and and Race Day Registrants.

Rain or Shine - No refunds or make-up date will be provided.

VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are needed to help with the 4th Annual TreesGreenville Turkey Day 8K run on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, 11/22/2012) at CU-ICAR. 

Packet Pick-Up volunteer shifts (Wednesday 11/21/12):  11am - 3pm and 3pm-7:30pm.

Race Day Volunteer shifts (Thursday 11/22/12):  6:30am - 10:30am and 7:30am - 11:30am.

Race Day volunteers will assist with course set-up, registration, general coordination, course monitoring, water stops, traffic/parking, handing out food/water at the end of the race and clean-up/breakdown.
